Doula Companionship

Doula Companionship with Developing Doulas
After five fulfilling years supporting families as a postnatal doula, I’m so excited to have become a Developing Doulas Companion. This is a role that feels like a natural extension of the work I love.
Starting out as a doula is exciting, but it can also feel a little overwhelming. I remember that mix of emotions so clearly after my initial training: the joy of stepping into this work, paired with moments of uncertainty and the occasional visit from imposter syndrome. What made all the difference was having a mentor; someone I could turn to with questions, share ideas with, and lean on when I needed reassurance. At the time, Doula UK was the only mentorship programme available, and I’m so grateful for the support I received.
The doula community is wonderfully generous, and I’m passionate about continuing that spirit of support. There’s a lot to juggle when you’re starting out; crafting your profile, setting up a website, managing admin, navigating social media etc and I’ll be right there to help you make sense of it all. I’ll walk alongside you as you find your footing, grow in confidence, and reflect meaningfully on your first few clients, so you can build your practice with clarity, purpose, and heart.
I came to doula work later in life, but at exactly the right time for me. It’s been a privilege to walk alongside families during such tender and transformative moments, and I still pinch myself that this is my job (well one of them)! Over the years, I’ve often connected with new and aspiring doulas, offering guidance and sharing my perspective, especially around balancing doula work with other roles and family life.
Now, I feel ready to give back to the doula community that has supported me so generously over the years. As a companion, I hope to offer a steady, empathetic presence, someone who listens deeply, reflects thoughtfully, and helps new doulas find their own way forward. I believe companionship is about creating a safe space for growth, not having all the answers, but asking the right questions and offering gentle guidance.
Why choose me as your Companion?
I bring a unique perspective shaped by the many hats I wear:
part-time doula, personal assistant, mindfulness facilitator, and mother. These roles have taught me the importance of patience, deep listening, and kind, clear communication, alongside strong organisational skills that I rely on every day in both work and family life. I’ve also benefited from some fantastic mindset coaching and mindfulness practices that have helped me set healthy boundaries, prioritise self care, and stay grounded amongst the busyness. These tools have been transformative, and I’m passionate about weaving them into the support I offer. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful they can be, and I hope to share that insight with the wonderful doulas I have the privilege of mentoring.
I believe companionship is a two-way street. It’s about building meaningful relationships, staying curious, and growing together. I’m passionate about continuous learning and I regularly update my skills, attend doula gatherings, workshops, and training sessions, and I always leave feeling inspired and more connected to this work and the fabulous doula community.
I offer companionship because I care deeply. If I can help someone feel more confident, supported, and empowered in their doula journey, even in a small way, that would mean the world to me. I’m excited to walk alongside new doulas, celebrate their progress, and offer thoughtful, compassionate support as they step into this beautiful work.

“Cat was a fantastic support to our family before the baby arrived and the entire time she was with us. A postnatal doula is a fantastic investment and I can highly recommend Cat!"
"Cat was so wonderful with our eldest which meant I could spend quality time with our new baby or take a shower. Cat was always happy to take the baby and hush him to sleep, she also helped with washing, cooking and a little cleaning."
“There's no one else I'd like to have around me more when I've just had my baby than Cat. She's not only fabulous with babies, but you genuinely feel that she loves you and your baby."
