Cat Cliff Surrey Postnatal Doula

My journey to becoming a postnatal doula

As a mum to two energetic boys, I truly understand how busy life can be and how overwhelming those early days of motherhood can feel, especially during the fourth trimester. This photo captures a joyful moment from my own postpartum journey, but it wasn’t always sunshine and smiles. I struggled, particularly with breastfeeding and the sheer exhaustion that comes with sleep deprivation.

What made all the difference was the loving support I had around me. It reminded me of a truth I hold close: we’re not meant to do this alone. That old saying is spot on - it really does take a village to raise a child.

I live in Guildford, Surrey with my wonderful family, and I love staying active, whether it’s walking, running, yoga, swimming, cycling, or paddleboarding. But above all, I cherish spending quality time with family and friends, soaking up the simple joys of life.

I’m known for being compassionate, empathetic, and cheerful, with a positive mindset and a reliable, caring nature. My background includes roles as an HR Advisor and Personal Assistant, but after having my two boys, I felt a strong pull to follow my heart. That led me to become a doula; supporting new parents through the incredible, sometimes overwhelming journey of welcoming a newborn. It’s a role I’m deeply passionate about, and I feel privileged to walk alongside families during such a special time.

This dream truly began to take shape when I started volunteering with the family support charity, Home Start. It opened my eyes to how much new families benefit from a little extra help during those early weeks and beyond. That experience inspired me to explore Doula UK and train with the amazing Developing Doulas, and I haven’t looked back since.

I absolutely love connecting with other parents and have a deep affection for babies, so becoming a postpartum doula feels like the perfect fit. Supporting families during such a tender and transformative time is not just my work, it’s my calling.
